StemSave celebrates National Children's Health Month -February 2011

February, 2011

In celebration of National Children’s Dental Health Month, we commend all of our Providers who recognize the importance of raising awareness among patients and their families of the critical role that proper dental care plays in the overall health of children.

As StemSave Providers, you have chosen to enhance your practice and expand your care by providing patients with the opportunity to recover and bank their own dental stem cells for possible future use in personalized and regenerative medicine. Be sure to tell all your patients and their families about this unique opportunity for all procedures involving routine extractions of healthy teeth. Read further to see how one of your colleagues has incorporated StemSave into her practice.

This year, we applaud

Dr. Deborah Pilla

and

Park Avenue Pediatric Dentistry

for their commitment to Community Education.

Some examples of how Park Avenue Pediatric Dentistry supports National Children’s Dental Health Month:

"We at Park Avenue Pediatric Dentistry dedicate time for visiting local schools, children ages 2 – 6, with the intention of instilling good dental habits. We teach them the difference between healthy and unhealthy snacks, the proper way to brush and floss, how many teeth they have as children and how many they will have as adults. The children are very excited during our presentation and especially at the end when they receive their “goodie bags” which contain an age appropriate toothbrush, children’s toothpaste, flossers, stickers, a coloring book, and a brochure for their parents explaining our demonstration. We have done this for four years and the schools gladly invite us back every year."

"A recent addition to our goodie bags is information about a wonderful service we offer called StemSave. Whenever a patient has a tooth that needs to be "wiggled out", we receive a treatment letter from a referring orthodontist or we see a double row of teeth (two teeth in the same location), we always let the patient's parents know about StemSave. After we introduce StemSave and explain the unique opportunity they have, we give the parent the phone and StemSave takes care of the rest! Parents love hearing about it, especially those who were unable to save the cord blood at the time of their child's birth. We love educating our patients and their parents!"
